Fena Benz was born February 26, 1906 to Thelps and Julia Warner in rural Adair, Iowa. She died on October 12, 1990 at Mercy Medical Center in Des Moines. When she was eight, her family moved to northern California and lived there for a year before returning to Iowa. She was baptized and confirmed in the Christian faith on January 24, 1932 at Zion Lutheran Church in Dexter, Iowa.

Fena was united in marriage to Walter Benz on January 28, 1931. She was a homemaker in Dexter before moving to Indianola. Fena was a member of Mt. Calvary Lutheran Church since 1974. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; and two brothers, Richard and Willard.

Fena is survived by two daughters, Julia Holst of Indianola and Wilma Bowman of Pleasantville; two brothers, Robert Warner of Indianola and Carl Warner of Adair; a sister, Ruby Shoesmith of rural Dexter. She is further survived by 9 grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren.

Interment was in the Dexter City Cemetery.
