Ival Maurice Scott “Scottie” passed away peacefully on June 27, 2017 from complications of COPD and cancer.

Ival was born Dec. 14, 1939 in Jamaica, Iowa to Orville and Cynthia Scott. Ival grew up on a farm in rural Yale and graduated from Panora High School. Ival worked in construction, was a laborer for Iowa Pack and Oscar Mayer and was a farmer for nearly 60 years. In June 1960, Ival married Lyda Carey and to this union, five children were born. Later in life, Ival and Lyda added an additional two children to their family. His hobbies included playing cards, practical jokes, collecting pens, hats and foreign money.

Scottie will be deeply missed by all including his devoted wife, Lyda, and beloved dog, Benji. He is survived by his children, Ival Jr., Mark, Wendy, Micky, Marci, Sunny and Jakob; five grandchildren, two great grandchildren and one blessing to be born in January, 2018; sisters Mona Anderson of Waukee, Myra Wood of Adel, brother Dwayne Scott of Ankney.

He was preceded in death by his parents and grandparents.

Memorial contributions may be made to The American Cancer Society. No funeral services are scheduled, however, an informal “celebration of life” will be held from 2-4 p.m. on Sunday, Aug. 13, at The New Hope Church, 25712 Highway 6 in Adel.
