Zachary Keegan Tuma, 24, beloved son and grandson, brother, cousin and nephew passed away Aug. 21, 2017. Zach left us suddenly, but peacefully on his own terms at the time and place of his choosing. A Memorial Celebration of Life will be held in the great outdoors that Zach loved on Aug. 26, 2017 from 5-7 p.m. at Trindle Park in Van Meter, Iowa.

Zach was born May 24, 1993 in San Antonio, Texas to Lisa (Dillow) and Cory Tuma. Zach was raised by parents who never held him back from his goals. He led a full life with brothers, cousins and friends. Zach loved to fish and hunt, go boating, watch his favorite Hulu war movies and most importantly spending several hours reiterating the whole movie back to you. He loved his cousins Bubba, Fefe, and Poo Bear, but most of all he loved his Slobber Baby Saylor. His family meant the world to him and he meant the world to us. Zach graduated from Mid Prairie High School. He broke the family Husker tradition and was an avid Hawkeye football fan. Zach had strong passion for the military and was extremely patriotic. Zach was an avid Amazon shopper!

Cory and Lisa purchased an old farm house when they moved to Iowa and this was Zach’s castle. He loved the outdoors and the freedom the country provided. He wore out more wheelchairs than farmers have John Deere tractors.

Zach went through more in his 24 years of life than most people go through in an entire lifetime. He experienced a lot of pain but also a tremendous amount of joy. Zach taught us the meaning of patience, perseverance, and gratitude for life. He will be dearly missed by parents, Lisa and Cory Tuma of Van Meter, Iowa; sister, Amanda (Shamus) Altenhofen; brothers, Alex and Bailey; maternal grandparents, Kris and Dennis Swigart of Rushville, Neb.; paternal grandparents, Bill Tuma of Gordon, Neb. and Barb and Ken Kern of Rapid City, S.D.; niece, Saylor Altenhofen; and many Aunties, Uncles, and cousins.

Memorials may be directed to Waukee Community State Bank in memory of Zach. Condolences may be expressed online at www.HamiltonsFuneralHome.com.
