Resided in Urbandale, IA

Lear, 64, passed away on May 3, 2011 at John Stoddard Cancer Center at Methodist Hospital in Des Moines, Iowa due to lung cancer related to Agent Orange exposure. The family will greet friends from 6 to 8 p.m. on Friday, May 6 at Iles Funeral Homes-Westover Chapel. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, May 7, at the Urban Heights Evangelical Covenant Church, 7605 Aurora Ave., Urbandale, with another viewing one hour prior to the service. A private interment will be held at the Iowa Veterans Cemetery at a later date.

Louise was born on April 9, 1947, in Hampton, Iowa to Herman Johnson and Adeline (Vietor) Johnson of rural Dumont, Iowa. She served as a captain in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War. Louise attained a Masters of Nursing in Nursing Administration and Family and Community Nursing at the University of Iowa in 1989. She fell into case management in 1990 and she really enjoyed being a Certified Case Manager (CCM).

She will be missed by her husband, Raymond Keith Lear, of Urbandale; two sons, Andrew Ray Lear, and his son Zachary Ryan Lear and wife Wendi, of Des Moines; and Jason Paul Lear of Urbandale, and his daughters, Harmony Louise Lear and Arianna Grace Lear; a sister, Alice Waechter and her husband, Marvin, of Grinnell; a brother, Paul Johnson, of Saylorville; an aunt, Phyllis Anderson; and many nieces and nephews, cousins and extended family.

Louise was preceded in death by her parents, Herman and Adeline Johnson.

In lieu of flowers, please make memorial contributions to the John Stoddard Cancer Center at Methodist Hospital, 1221 Pleasant St. #450, Des Moines, IA 50309-1434.
