Rita Christine Kurimski, age 54, from Waukee, formerly of Lovilia, passed away Thursday April 7, 2011 at Pleasant Care Living Center in Pleasantville, Iowa from Fronto-temporal Dementia.

Rita was born January 17, 1957 in Albia to Steve and Barb (Crall) Kurimski. Rita graduated from Albia High School, Class of 1975, and also graduated from DMACC with an accounting degree.

Rita was employed at Farm Bureau but, her favorite job was working at a daycare. She loved all kids especially her seven nieces and nephews. She enjoyed traveling, decorating, crafts, bowling, and Mexican food.

She is survived by her mother, Barb of Lovilia; two brothers, Mark (Pam) Kurimski of Lovilia, Bernard (Helen) Kurimski of Lovilia, a sister, Marla (Bill) Balzer of Runnells. Rita is also survived by her nieces and nephews, Heather, Ryan, and Aaron Kurimski, Emily and Andrew Kurimski, Dane and Hailey Balzer.

She was preceded in death by her beloved father, Steve; grandparents Andrew and Anna Kurimski, and Robert and Helen Crall.

Rita had a beautiful smile and a big and loving heart. She will be greatly missed, but after a long and courageous battle, she is at peace.

Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m., Monday April 11, 2011 at St. Peter's Catholic Church in Lovilia, with Rev. Patrick Lumsden officiating. Burial will follow services at St. Peter's Cemetery in Lovilia.

Visitation will begin at 12 noon, Sunday, April 10, 2011 at the Winfield Funeral Home in Albia. Rita's family will be present throughout the day and evening. A rosary will be led Sunday at 4 p.m., and a Christian Wake Service will also be held at the funeral home, Sunday evening at 7 p.m. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions for Rita will be determined at a later date.
