Earlham Echo – Earlham, Iowa
July 23, 1925

Edna Wilson Kramer, daughter of John and Lydia Wilson was born October 17, 1838 in Marion Co., Indiana near Indianapolis, departed this life July 12, 1925 at the age of 86 years, 8 months and 25 days, being the eighth child in a family of ten. Her parents were among the early pioneers of Iowa, moving in 1853 with their family and earthly possessions in covered wagons with four horses—one of which she drove and settled on a farm northeast of Earlham on what is now known as the Grandfather Wilson farm. At that time there was four houses between Earlham and Adel, and one between Earlham and Stuart. They went to Carlisle for groceries—as Des Moines at that time was just a fort. She knew the full meaning of pioneer.

Edna Wilson was united in marriage to William Kramer in 1861, living on a farm near DeSoto. Four children were born to this union—two sons and two daughters: Mrs. Nettie Bump of Wilbur, Washington, Luther of Spokane, Washington, Wilbur of DeSoto and Mrs. Grace Marks who died in 1916.

Mrs. Kramer was a member of the Christian Church having united with the DeSoto church where she was a member at the time of her death.

The family moved to DeSoto in March 1885 where she has since resided. She was the last of a large family, always a faithful and cheerful wife and mother doing her duty as she saw it, loved and respected by her many friends and neighbors.

Although the last months of her life were full of pain, she made no complaint, only that she hoped she might soon be called.

Funeral services were held at the Methodist church on Tuesday afternoon by the Methodist pastor. Interment was made in DeSoto cemetery.
