Joseph Kenneth Hawbaker, better known as J. Kenneth or Kenneth, was born September 22,
1918 in Franklin County, Pennsylvania to Joseph and Mary Hawbaker. He went home to be with the Lord on August 4,2012. Kenneth was a member of the Old Order River Brethren Church in Dallas Center.

Kenneth married Dorothy Eby of Dallas Center, IA on August 14, 1947. Kenneth and Dorothy lived in Pennsylvania for four years and then moved to Iowa in 1951. They lived near Dallas Center, buying the Hawbaker Family Farm in 1956. Dorothy and Kenneth raised corn, soy beans, hogs and eight children on the 160 acre farm south and east of Dallas Center.

Kenneth is survived by his loving wife of nearly 65 years, Dorothy; daughter, Mary Kay Bulman of Dallas Center; daughter, Nancy and husband Ronald Marks of Hart, Michigan; son, Ray and wife Marla of Quinter, Kansas; daughter, Judith and husband Edward Trone of Hanover, Pennsylvania; daughter, Sharon and husband John Byers of Chambersburg, Pennsylvania; son, Nelson and wife Laura of Dallas Center; daughter, Darlene and husband Dan Chupp of Quinter, Kansas
and son Mark and wife Annette of Dallas Center; 38 grandchildren; 38 great-grandchildren; one sister, Mildred Kramer of Chambersburg, Pennsylvania and one brother, John Henry of Greencastle, Pennsylvania. He was preceded in death by brothers David, Harold and Wilbur.

Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m., Wednesday, August 8, 2012 at the Dunkard Brethren Church, north of Dallas Center. Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m., Tuesday, August 7, 2012 at the church. Burial will be Brethren Cemetery, Dallas Center. There will also be visitation held one hour prior to the service on Wednesday at the church. Memorial contributions may be directed to the Dallas Center Christian School. ~ The Des Moines Register Tues 7 Aug 2012.
