Earlham Echo – Earlham, Iowa
January 17, 1901

A. Jappy died at his home four miles north of Earlham on last Saturday evening after an illness lasting only one week. Pneumonia was the cause of his death. He had been a resident of this community for many years and was an upright, industrious citizen.

The funeral was held in the Pleasant Hill church on Monday morning, conducted by Rev. Johnson, and the remains were laid to rest in the Pleasant Hill cemetery.

Mr. Jappy was born in Finland forty-seven years ago, and resided there until he was sixteen years old, when he moved to Sweden and lived there for ten years. He had been a resident of this country for twenty years.

He leaves a wife and six children to mourn his loss. The children were all at home except one son who lives in California.
