CLYDE McMULLIN, Stuart

Clyde David McMullin, 90, of Stuart, Iowa, died Monday, Jan. 16, 2012, at the Stuart Community Care Center.

Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, Jan. 21, at the Zion Lutheran Church in Dexter. Visitation will be held from 1:00 to 8:00 p.m. Friday with the family present to receive friends from 6-8 p.m. at the Johnson Family Funeral Home – Dexter Chapel. Burial will follow the service at the Dexter Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to the Zion Lutheran Church and/or the Dexter American Legion in care of Johnson Family Funeral Home, PO Box 57, Dexter IA 50070.

Clyde was born April 19, 1921, in Casey, Iowa, to David John and Mamie Laura Blackburn McMullin. He grew up on a farm north of Dexter and graduated from Dexter High School with the class of 1939. Clyde enlisted into the United States Army Air Corp. on Nov. 4, 1942, and served in the Pacific Theater on the islands of Guam, Saipan and Tinian. He was united in marriage to Marjorie Mae Hill, on Nov. 16, 1947, at the Zion Lutheran Church in Dexter. After their marriage, they made their home on a farm north of Dexter, where they farmed and raised cattle and hogs. In later years, Clyde also worked full time at the Dexfield High School, as head custodian, until retiring in 1983. He was a member of the Zion Lutheran Church, and the Dexter American Legion.

He is preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Marjorie; two brothers; three sisters; and Eva Schwab.

He is survived by his children, Patricia McMullin of Des Moines and Jeffrey McMullin of Urbandale; two grandchildren; and many family and friends.
