Mrs. Marinus De Reus, whose home has been at Adel for the past fourteen years, died at Mercy Hospital, Des Moines, at midnight or early in the morning of August 21. She was about fifty three years old, and her death was caused by cancer, with which she had suffered for a considerable time. Mrs. De Reus was a daughter of C. Smorenburg of the Home for the Aged in Pella and a sister of Gerrit Smorenburg of this city. A sister is Mrs. Wm. Vander Linden of Pulaski, Iowa. She is survived also by her husband, one son, and one daughter. The family lived at Pella until their removal to Adel. Funeral services and burial are at Adel this afternoon, Thursday. -Pella Chronicle. August 23, 1923
