Mrs. Catherine Payton, mother of J. W. Payton, of this place, died at the home of her son-in-law, M. E. White in Van Meter last Friday, at the age of eighty-three years. About a month ago Mrs. Payton fell and fractured her hip and on account of her age and feeble health she was not able to combat the effect of the injury and passed away Friday morning. The remains were taken to Guthrie Center for interment.
