From Boonville

Mr. George Getchell’s family, one and one half miles southwest of Boonville, lost Leroy, their only child, aged 12, from an abscess forming in the intestines. Dr. Schooler, of Des Moines, was called out Monday morning and operated on the child, but he died from exhaustion. The operation was skillfully performed, but the child had not the vitality and strength to endure the ordeal, having eaten nothing for ten days, and being a delicately constituted child. It is indeed a sad bereavement in the family. The funeral took place Wednesday. There was a large attendance.
