From what I could locate for you, it appears that Clara (Carpenter) Pence died on July 29, 1890. Her date of birth was July 1862. Jay Pence was born on March 21, 1883 in Crawford County, Iowa. His name is only listed as male Pence on his birth registration. It is possible that Jay died on October 7, 1908. No definitive sources for Clara and Jay's dates of death were located. "Jay"'s legal name was probably Joseph Jacob Pence.

"Richard Pence is with us again, having went west a few years ago. He lost his wife lately and has moved back to his parents with several young children for grandmother to help take care of and bring up."
