I have recently come upon photos & clips of my great-grandparents & earlier ancestors. I don't know techniques or protocols so forgive my questions if they seem too basic.
My maternal great-grandparents, Peter Ziehm & Christina Ullrich Ziehm, were buried in Morgan Township cemetery near Schleswig in the 1940s. I have looked at the gravestone project page & can't find a record of their graves. Nor can I find a record of them in the Morgan cemetery listing. Can anyone tell me why this might be?
Quoting from my great-grandfather's obit: "Principle [sic] services were from the Freden [sic] Church in Schleswig, Ia., Monday with burial in the Morgan township cemetery near there." From my great-grandmother's obit: "...remains were...placed on the flier for shipment to Leschleswig, [sic] Iowa, where she was laid to rest...."
Peter Ziehm & his family came to IA from Germany in 1892 & farmed in Crawford & Ida counties until about 1910. I haven't been able to find any area references to him so far & would be interested in guidance as to where to look further.
May I just say to all those working on these issues -- you're doing a wonderful job! I live in AZ & could never research any of this without all the resources on the internet. I've been delighted to find numerous references to my paternal great-great-grandparents, M/M Jacob Rudloff, & their family, as well as a photo of their gravestone. Thank you so much to all who are working on this.
