CARSTENS, SCHROEDER

I would like to know more about the origins of my greatgrandmother, Wilhelmine (Minnie) Carstens. She emigrated to Iowa from Holstein, Germany. She and my grandfather, Jurgen Schroeder, were married in Dec. 22, 1873 when she was 18. I know quite a bit about my grandfather, but nothing about Wilhelmine. (Jurgen Schroeder was instrumental in the founding of both Hohenzollern and then Schleswig in Crawford Co.) Wilhelmine died on May 3, 1889, in Hohenzollern, Crawford Co. She is buried in the Morgan Township Cemetery. Her headstone gives her year of birth as 1855 and her age at death as 33 years 9 mos. 10 days). Wilhelmine and Jurgen Schroeder had four children: Matilda (my grandmother), William (Willie), Margaret (Maggie), and Herman. I would like to know who her parents were and whether she had relatives in the U.S. or Germany. Thank you. Jean Knight
