Emil Otto Haldeen was born in Turnsfalla Socken, Kalmar Län, Småland, Sweden on 24 Dec 1867 and died at his home in Hayes township Friday evening, March 2, at the age of 83 years, two months, and six days. He was confirmed in the Lutheran faith in 1882 in his native country. In 1891 he came to this country, directly to Odebolt and worked on various farms for ten years. He returned to Sweden in 1901 for one year and came back and started farming in Sac county, later in Woodbury and Ida counties.

In 1913 he was united in marriage with Ida Anderson. Four children were born to them, two of whom died in infancy. He is survived by two sons Glen and Vernie and one brother in Sweden, also nieces and nephews here and in Sweden. Mrs. Haldeen died April 1, 1945.

Funeral services were held at Moore & Christensen funeral home in Ida Grove, Monday at 2 pm with Rev. Palmer Sellstrom of Odebolt-Bethel Lutheran churches officiating. John and Dwight Winquist sang "In The Garden" and "The Lord is My Shepherd," accompanied by Mrs. Elmer Wilson. Burial was in Hayes township cemetery. Pall bearers were Robt. Hewitt, Lambert Bergin, Earl Linquist, Myron Segerstrom, Edwin Carlson and Orris Nordell
