Arthur Anderson was born on the farm in Ida County, Kiron, Iowa, 9 February 1917, the son of Addic and Ellen Ahlquist Anderson. He was raised on the farm and received his education in the local rural schools. Arthur remained on the farm he was born all of his life where he farmed with his family until retiring and renting the land in 1984. After retirement he continued to maintain an active interest in the farm. Although life on the farm was a busy one Arthur found time to enjoy his hobbies of music, being blessed with the ability to play many instruments, clock and watch repairing and using his artistic talents to intricately paint the Swedish Dala Horses that his brother, Lloyd, carved. He was a long-time member of the Evangelical Free Church in Kiron and after it closed attended First Baptist Church in Kiron.
On 8 December 1999 Arthur entered Eventide Lutheran Home in Denison and it was there his death occurred early Sunday 12 December 1999. At the time of his death he had attained the age of 82 years, 10 months and 3 days.
Including his parents he was preceded in death by one sister, Eileen Anderson, 25 February 1986.
Those who remain to cherish Arthur's memory include two brothers, Wilbur Anderson and wife, Wilma and Lloyd Anderson all of Kiron, cousins, other relatives and friends.
Funeral services were held at the First Baptist Church of Kiron, Iowa at 10:30 a.m. on Tuesday, 14 December 1999. Pastor Wayne Fritzinger was in charge of the service. Musical selections, "Day by Day" and "Rock Of Ages, Cleft For Me" were sung by Hanford Ecklund accompanied by Mrs. John W. Larson on the organ. Warren Larson, John W. Larson, Wayne Lindskoog, Roger Hanson, Lyle Woodward, Sr. and Bill Carlson served as casket bearers. Interment was in the Kiron Cemetery. Pfannebecker Funeral Home of Denison was in charge of the burial.
