MRS. A. BAKER FUNERAL SATURDAY
Pioneer of 87 Goes To Her Reward
Mrs. Anna Baker was born Sept. 28, 1859, and passed away March 3, 1938, at the age of 87 years, 5 months and three days. Mrs. Anna Anderson - Baker was born in Christianstad lan, Skåne, Sweden, and came to America in 1869 when she was 19 years old. Six years later, July 26, 1875, she was united in marriage to John Baker at which time they went to farming on the John E. Baker homestead in Ida County. This home was blessed with six children, two daughters and four sons, Minnie, Gertie, William, Anvey, John and George. Three of these preceeded their mother in death, namely, Gertie, (Mrs. Johnson), William and George. John resides on the Baker homestead, Anvey in Indianapolis, and Minnie (Mrs. C. R. Lundell) resides in Wheeler township. Mr. Baker passed away June 10, 1924. Besides the three children, ten grandchildren and many friends mourn her passing.

Mrs. Baker enjoyed good health until two or three days before her death when she was troubled with a cold, but death came unexpectedly, early Thursday morning, apparently due to a heart attack and advanced age. She made her home with her daughter, Mrs. C. R. Lundell.

Mr. and Mrs. Baker were among the pioneers in the Bethel Lutheran Congregation, having joined in 1889 and been active members these many years. She will be greatly missed in the church and by her large number of friends. Mrs. Baker lived a beautiful Christian life; was of a quiet nature, kind and helpful and keenly interested in her family and her church.

Funeral services were held Saturday afternoon at 1 o’clock from the Bethel Lutheran church. The choir beautifully sang "Rock of Ages", "Jesus, Lover of My Soul" and "There’s a Land That is Fairer Than Day." The pastor, Rev. Herbert Johnson officiated. The pallbearers were George Carlson, Enoch Anderson, Emil Lundell, Iver Sundell, Nels Sandstrom and G. A. Norelius. Interment was made in the family plot in the Bethel cemetery. Peace be to her memory.

The son, Anvey, of Indianapolis, and the granddaughter, Dorothy Baker of Des Moines came for the funeral.
