Another of the pioneer settlers of Ida County, but well-known in this vicinity, was called by death Friday, when Anders Anderson died.

Anders Anderson was born at Kungsbacka, Elfsborg Län, Sweden, February 1, 1854 and passed away January 20, 1939 at the age of 84 years, 11 months, and 19 days. He left Sweden when 19 years old. It took him 20 days to make the voyage across the ocean. He came across on the ship, Samarie, of the Cunard Line. He settled in Amboy, Illinois.

On March 15, 1877, he was married to Ida Charlotta Wester at DeKalb, Ill. After living on a farm near there, they came to Ida County in March 1882, settling on a farm six miles south of Arthur. Later, they bought this farm, which has been there home ever since. Seventy acres of their farm were plowed but there was no buildings on the place they bought.

Mr. Anderson has been a faithful member of the Bethel Lutheran Church since November 3, 1889. He and his wife who died April 11, 1933, were faithful workers for their church and reared their family with this honorable trait in mind. The home was blessed with 10 children. Two died years ago, Alfred, aged 11 months, and an infant. The other eight children are: Mrs. August Waterman, Torrington, Alberta, Canada, Mrs. Anna Croxwell, Correctionville, Mrs. Mathilda Christiansen of Kiron, Anton Anderson, Youngstown, Canada, Otto of Ida Grove, Edward of British Columbia, John of Cleveland, Ohio, many grandchildren and several nieces and nephews and three great-grandchildren survive his passing and one sister Mrs. Albertine Carlson of Arthur.

Funeral services were held at the Bethel Lutheran Church at 1:30 p.m. Thursday with the Rev. Herbert N. Johnson officiating. Songs sung by the choir were "Saved By Grace" and "City Four Square" also a vocal solo, "Nearer My God To Thee" (in swedish) by David Johnson. Pallbearers were John Baker, Edwin Carlson, Frank Heitman, Earl Lindquist, Addic Anderson, and Vetus Carlson. Burial was in the Arthur Cemetery.
