SCHLESWIG, Iowa — Francis L. Quandt, 56, Schleswig, died Thursday of an apparent heart attack while driving his truck south of Denison.

Services will be at 10 a.m. Monday in St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church, Denise. The Rev. Lloyd White will officiate. Burial will be in St. Boniface Cemetery at Charter Oak under direction of the Sinn-Huebner Funeral Home, Schleswig. Military graveside rites will be conducted by the Schleswig American Legion and Veterans of Foreign Wars (VFW).

Mr. Quandt was born Feb. 25, 1920, at Charter Oak. He was graduated from St. Boniface High School. He served with the U.S. Army in World War II. On Feb. 15, 1943, he married LaRue Keller, at Charter Oak.

The couple farmed for 19 years in Crawford County. They had resided in Schleswig since 1958. At the time of his death, Mr. Quandt was employed in Denison.

Survivors include the widow; two daughters, Mrs. Tom (Maxine) Murphy of Dunlap and Miss Margie of Omaha; three sons, Ronald of Dunlap, Richard of Schleswig, and Russell, at home; his parents, Mr and Mrs Charles Quandt of Charter Oak; six brothers, Paul, Harold, Norman, and Donald all of Carroll, Robert of Council Bluffs, and James of Westside; three sisters, Mrs. Raymond (Marcella) Kluver of Charter Oak; Mrs. Romanan (Evelyn) Jenkins of Kiron and Mrs. Albert (Dorothy) Kluver of Carroll; and four grandchildren.

FRANCIS LAVERNE QUANDT

Funeral services for Francis L. Quandt were held Monday, February 7, at 10:00 a.m. at St Rose of Lima Catholic Church, Denison, with Father Lloyd W. White officiating.

Internment was made at St. Boniface Catholic Cemetery, Charter Oak, with full military rites at the cemetery. Pallbearers included nephews, Eugene Quandt, David Quandt, Danny Quandt, Craig Quandt, Jene Quandt and Jerry Namanny.

Francis LaVerne Quandt died Feb. 3, 1977 at Denison, at the age of 56. He was born February 29, 1920 the son of Charles and Ann Quandt at Charter Oak.

As a young boy he was raised and educated in Charter Oak, attending the sisters school at S. Boniface.

On Feb. 15, 1943 he was united in marriage to LaRue Ella Keller at Charter Oak. Mr. Quandt farmed for 19 years in Crawford County before moving to Schleswig in 1958. At the time of his death he was employed in Denison. 

Survivors include, his wife LaRue of Schleswig, two daughters, Mrs. Tom (Maxine) Murphy, Dunlap; Marjorie E Quandt, Omaha, NE; three sons, Ronald Quandt, Dunlap; Richard Quandt, Schleswig; and Russell Quandt, at home in Schleswig, also by four grandchildren.

Six brothers, Paul Quandt, Carroll; Harold Quandt, Carroll; Robert Quandt, Council Bluffs, Norman Quandt, Carroll; Donald Quandt, Carroll; and James Quandt, Westside, by three sisters, Mrs. Raymond (Marcella) Kluver, Charter Oak; Mrs. Romanan (Evelyn) Jenkins, Kiron; and Mrs. Albert (Dorothy) Kluver of Carroll. Also by his parents, Mr and Mrs Charles Quandt of Charter Oak.

Arrangements were under the direction of the Sinn-Huebner Funeral Home, Schleswig.
