Carl Johnan Johnson was born in Misterhult, Sweden, November 5, 1841. He emigrated to Kiron in the year 1868 and on the year 1876 was united in marriage to the wife that passed on before just two weeks previous to his death. Four children were born to this union; one daughter and three sons, all whom resides in this locality and now again are called upon to mourn the taking away of the dear father. This community loses a most splendid and true man and citizen and few men have lived such an unblemished life. In character and reputation he lived without reproach and it is needless to commend to his surviving friends the life of this excellent man who possessed a large and generous most neighborly heart and one of the most kindly nature. As a neighbor he could not be excelled. As a citizen a most model one, and as a friends, a true one. His life among us for so many years is a most exemplary one, honest and upright and doing the good he could, never allowing an opportunity to pass where he could personally sympathize with distress or affliction or by his purse, aid any whom to be worthy.

The funeral took pace Friday afternoon. A brief service was conducted at the house, when the remains were taken to the Baptist church from which the funeral services were held, conducted by the Pastor A. Lagerguist. At the close, the large audience filed by the casket for a last looks upon the face of their requested friend and neighbor. He was laid to rest by the side of his devoted wife. Thus another couple of our people are gone. Their struggles of reluctant is over and their bodies sleeps in death, their soul launched into the invisible state, but who can imagine the delightful surprise, when they find themselves together again on the blissful shore, surrounded by saints and angels instead of weeping friends. They have arrived in the city of the Living God, and have listened to the voice, which is sweeter than music in her softest strain or harmony of hymning seraphim, congratulating and welcoming their arrival and bespeaking their admission. The entire neighborhood extends their deep sympathy to the greatly afflicted children in their loss of a good father and mother.
