Richard John Saggau, 92, of Scottsdale, AZ, passed away on March 15, 2017. Richard was born June 1, 1924, in Denison, Iowa, to Ella Wiebers and Martin Saggau, Jr. In 1943 he joined the military where he became a sergeant in the 101st Airborne. He was a parachuter behind the enemy lines during the WWII invasion of Normandy. After being wounded in action he was discharged and received the Bronze Star and Purple Heart. In Arizona he was a land developer for over 40 years. He is survived by his sons, Robin, Kent and Chip Saggau, grandchildren Nick, Wes, Madison, Abbey, Jeromy and Richard, and daughters-in-law Chris and Karen. Funeral service will be March 27, 2017 at Green Acres Chapel, Scottsdale.
