Robert Frank Bral
Robert (Bob) Frank Bral was born September 10, 1932, the son of Frank O. and Bess I. Crampton Bral. He died Wednesday, October 2, 2002 at the Jennie Edmundson Hospital in Council Bluffs, Iowa at the age of seventy.
Bob was born in Vail, Iowa and was confirmed on April 19, 1959. He received his education in a rural school near Deloit, Iowa and after completing his education, he worked as a brick layer for his cousin, Lawrence Butler. He later moved to Omaha, where Bob worked for Swift.
On June 20, 1952, Bob was united in marriage to Marcella Hammer at the Lutheran Parsonage in Sac City, Iowa. The couple settled in Omaha, Nebraska for one year before moving to Denison. Bob went to work for Comstock Gravel Company as a machine operator for five years. In the early 1960’s, Bob started working for Orville McVay Heating and Plumbing, where he worked for nine years before starting the Bral Plumbing and Concrete business in March of 1969.
Bob was a member of Zion Lutheran Church in Denison and a former member of Isaac Walton League. Bob loved his family and enjoyed being involved with family events. One of Bob’s enjoyments in life was respect for wildlife. He enjoyed trapping, fishing and hunting along the river. He was very skilled at wood crafting.
He was preceded in death by his parents. Survivors include his wife, Marcella of Denison; four sons, Robert E. and his wife, Robin of Denison; Clayton and his wife, Kathy of La Vista, Nebraska; Ronald and his wife, Laurie; Kenneth and his wife, Sherry, all of Denison; one daughter, Diane Gunderson and her husband Richard of Columbia, South Carolina; seventeen grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; two brothers, John Bral and his wife, Carol of Elkhorn, Nebraska; James Bral and his wife, Lorraine of Denison; two sisters, Nancy Love and her husband, Kenneth; Maxine Graham, all of Denison; many other relatives and friends.

Funeral services were held at 1:00 p.m., Saturday, October 5, 2002 at the Huebner Funeral Home in Denison, Iowa. Rev. David Sewing and Rev. Kurt Kaiser officiated the service and grave side rites held at the Oakland Cemetery in Denison. Karen Kahl provided the organ accompaniment for soloist, Larry Boeck singing “The Lord’s Prayer”, Abide With Me, Fast Falls the Eventide” and congregational hymn “Amazing Grace, How Sweet the Sound”. Honorary pallbearers were his grandchildren. Pallbearers were Shawn Gunderson, Henry DeMey Jr., Gordon Hough, Dave Nernitz, Lyle Frazier and Joe Harlow. The family invited everyone in attendance at the service to join them in fellowship and lunch at Zion Lutheran Church, served by the Ladies Aid. The Huebner Funeral Home in Denison was in charge of arrangements.
