Janet I."Jan" Shudak, age 58, of Omaha, Neb., passed away October 23, 2007, after a courageous year and a half battle with cancer.

Jan was born in Denison, Iowa on July 10, 1949. She graduated from St. Albert High School, in 1967, and married Steve Shudak on July 12, 1969. From 1980 to 2005 Jan and Steve lived in Fremont, Neb., where they raised daughters, Chris and Cindy. They moved to Omaha in 2005.

Jan is preceded in death by her father, Paul Wettengel.

Survivors include husband, Steve; daughters, Chris and Mike Stern, all of Omaha, Cindy and Dana Janssen, of Lincoln, Neb., loves of her life, her grandchildren, Alex, Jordan, Jett Janssen, Taylor, Tanner, Taryn Stern; mother, Patricia Wettengel, of Council Bluffs; 16 sisters and brothers, Mary and Neil Hughes, twin sister, Joy and Ken Belt, Maureen and Darwin Kruse, Colleen and Guy Recher, Jenny and Mike Rounds, all of Council Bluffs, Jean and Karl Morz, of Ames, Iowa, Nancy and Terry Mulvania, Karen and Mark Wahl, all of Omaha, Rita and Todd Oppenheimer, of Edwards, Colo., Judy and Mike Schutz, of Bellevue, Neb., Joanne and Rick Grote, of Neola, Iowa, brothers, Paul Jr. and Jo Wettengel, of Omaha, Tom and Vicky Wettengel, of Seattle, Wash., Dick and Mary Wettengel, Bill and Sheila Wettengel, all of Council Bluffs, Bob and Kim Wettengel, of Crescent, Iowa; in-laws, Frank and Neva Shudak, of Council Bluffs; a host of nieces, nephews, friends.

Visitation, Thursday, 3-7 p.m., followed by a Rosary at 7 p.m., at Queen of Apostles Church. Mass of Christian Burial, Friday, 10 a.m., also at the Church. Interment, St. Joseph Cemetery, with a luncheon to follow at Queens.

Memorials to Am Cancer and St. Albert Schools.
