Emgard Elsie Hagemann was born October 17, 1917, the daughter of Ernest and Martha Blunk Timm. She died Monday, September 3, 2007 at the Denison Care Center in Denison, Iowa at the age of eighty-nine.

Emgard was born on a farm near Charter Oak, Iowa. She was baptized in Christ and later confirmed in 1931 at St. Paul Lutheran Church, Hanover Township, Charter Oak. She received her education in a rural school near her home.

On February 14, 1937, Emgard was united in marriage to Alfred Hagemann. The couple made their home on a farm and were blessed with the birth of two children. Later they moved to Ricketts and subsequently returned to farming, until retiring and making their home in Charter Oak. In November 2005, they made their home at the Denison Care Center.

Emgard was a devoted member of St. Paul Lutheran Church. She was a loving and caring wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and great-great-grandmother. She enjoyed watching television and socializing in a game of cards. While on the farm she liked raising chickens, baking pies and bread and selling them. Emgard also enjoyed singing German songs to her neighbors at the Denison Care Center and listening to polka music.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Alfred on March 25, 2006 and two brothers, Kermit Timm and Ernie Plough. Survivors include one daughter, Marlene O'Meara and her husband, Herb of Denison; one son, Allan Hagemann and his wife, Tammy of Wakefield, Nebraska; five grandchildren, Mark O'Meara and his wife, Lori of West Des Moines; Tami O'Meara of Glidden; Jeff Hagemann of Sioux City, Iowa; Nikki Hagemann of Denison; and Dawn Hagemann of Sioux City; five great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild; two sisters-in-law, Frieda Jeschke and Elsie Norman, both of Denison; and a daughter-in-law, Dixie Hagemann of Denison; many other relatives and friends.

Funeral services were held 2 p.m., Friday, September 7, 2007 at St. Paul Lutheran Church, Hanover Township, Charter Oak, Iowa. Rev. Eugene Ernst officiated the services and grave side rites held at St. Paul's Lutheran Cemetery, Hanover Township, Charter Oak, Iowa. Organist Shirley Stull provided accompaniment for the congregational hymns "The Old Rugged Cross," "Just As I Am, Without One Plea," and "Beyond the Sunset." Those serving as pallbearers were Jeff Hagemann, Dennis Huebner, Milfred Nemitz, Mark O'Meara, Richard Spiegel, and Mark Spiegel. A Prayer Service was held at 6 p.m., Thursday at the Huebner Funeral Home in Charter Oak. The family invited everyone in attendance to join them in fellowship and lunch served by the Ladies Aid. The Huebner Funeral Home in Charter Oak was in charge of the arrangements.
