Marie Elizabeth Pierce was born September 1, 1915, in East Boyer Township, Crawford County, near Denison, Iowa, the daughter of Charles and Ella (Hoffert) Hall. She attended country schools in the Denison area.

On November 13, 1939, she was united in marriage to Dale Kenneth Pierce at Sioux Rapids, Buena Vista County, Iowa. To this union four children were born, Marjorie, Roger, Charles, and Lois. The family lived at Westside, Iowa until 1947, when they moved on a farm near Charter Oak. Marie lived in the Charter Oak area for nearly 60 years. Dale passed away February 11, 1981.

She was a member of the Charter Oak United Methodist Church along with the Ladies Aide and the Red Hat Society of the Odebolt Nursing and Rehab Center. She found pleasure in her hobbies of fishing and gardening.

Survivors include two sons and their wives, Roger and Camilla Pierce of Odebolt, Iowa and Charles and Delores Pierce of Denison, Iowa; one daughter, Lois Pierce of Ponca, Nebraska; eight grandchildren; eight great grandchildren; and one sister-in-law, Lillian Miller of Rochester, Minnesota.

Along with her husband, Dale, she was preceded in death by her parents; and infant daughter, Marjorie Ella Pierce; two sisters, Lillian Slack and Mildred Buffum; and one brother, Leslie Hall.

Funeral services were Monday, June 25, 2007, 10:30 a.m. Charter Oak United Methodist Church, Charter Oak, Ia. Pastor Ken Baughman officiating. Eulogy given by granddaughter Kathy Burgess. Pallbearers were grandsons; David Pierce, James Pierce, Brian Pierce, Christopher Pierce, Michael Pierce and Grant Pierce. Organist for music was Joyce Hanson, congregational singing "The Old Rugged Cross", "How Great Thou Art". Prayer service was held Sunday, June 24, 2007, 7:30 p.m. at the Armstrong Funeral Home in Ute, Ia. Interment in the Charter Oak Cemetery, Charter Oak, Ia.

Following interment everyone was invited and encouraged to share in food and fellowship at the Charter Oak Community Center.
