Mabel N. Tech was born, December 17, 1929, the daughter of Oscar and Hilda Hesse Hottendorf. She died Friday, June 22, 2007 at the Crawford County Memorial Hospital in Denison, Iowa at the age of seventy-seven.

She was born in Deloit, Iowa and received her education at Zion Lutheran School in Denison. On December 18, 1947, she was united in marriage to Vernet Tech Jr. at St. John Lutheran Church in Charter Oak, Iowa. The couple made their home in Denison and were blessed with the birth of five children.

Mabel spent her life caring for the elderly, a job which she dearly loved. She worked at Eventide Lutheran Home in Denison and also cared for people in their homes. In her spare time, she enjoyed going to casinos, fishing, crocheting, doing embroidery, cooking, and doing word search puzzles. She was a fan of the Atlanta Braves baseball team and spent much of her spare time watching games with Vern. She also enjoyed watching television, especially westerns. She loved her family very much and loved spending time with them whenever she could. She was a member of Zion Lutheran Church in Denison.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her daughter, Jacqueline; two grandsons, Chad and Chadrick; five brothers, LuVerne, Leonard, Milroy "Mick," Raymond, and Robert; two sisters, Margaret Tibbits and her husband, Harold; and Rosaline; two brothers-in-law, Chester Lingle and LeRoy Winey; and her mother and father- in -law, Maylou and Vernet Tech Sr. She is survived by her husband, Vern Tech of Denison; three sons, Allen and his wife, Kathy; Larry and his wife, Shirley; and Richard, all of Denison; one daughter, Denise Brink and her husband, Tom of Arion; fourteen grandchildren; twenty great-grandchildren; two sisters, Clara Winey of Denison; and Lucille Lingle of California; four sisters-in-law, Norma Kraus and her husband, Paul of Denison; Phyllis Millard and her special friend, Don McCance of Omaha; Carleen Hottendorf of Oregon; and Lois Hottendorf of Denison; two brothers-in-law, Duane Tech and Dennis Tech and his wife, Camille, all of Council Bluffs; many nieces and nephews, other relatives and friends.

Memorial services were held 11 A.M., Wednesday, June 27, 2007 at the Huebner Funeral Home in Denison, Iowa. Rev. Kurt Kaiser and Rev. David Sewing officiated the services. Soloist Eldon Hardekopf sang the musical selections "Just A Closer Walk With Thee," "How Great Thou Art," and "The Old Rugged Cross." The musical selection "Honey" by Bobby Goldsborough was played during the service.Those serving as honorary pallbearers were Danny TenEyck, Terry Henson, Kyle Tech, Mike Henson, Kevin Tech, and Alex Tech. The Huebner Funeral Home in Denison was in charge of the arrangements.
