Robert King Brannon Jr., of Lake Forest, IL., died suddenly on the fourth green at the Peacock Open in Green Lake, WI on June 8, 2007, the thirteenth anniversary of his mother, Mary Brannon's death. Born March 6, 1936 in Denison, IA. beloved husband of Judy, nee Cereckwicki, for 46 years; devoted father of Robert (Christine) Brannon, Sean and Coley Brannon; cherished grandfather of Frank (Rose) Brannon, Mary Elline (Charles) Thornton, Declan, Olivia, Charlotte, Liam, Conall, Teige, Josephine and Maureen Brannon; great-grandfather of Sean Robert Thornton and Robert Killian Brannon; loving brother to Patricia Kenney, Thomas (Veronica), Kevin and Michael Brannon; loving uncle to Ann (Fintan) Kenney Molloy, Carl, Monica, Paul and Corey Brannon; Bob also leaves behind his dear mother-in-law Ann Cereckwicki and countless friends. He served in the U.S. Army for 2 years and went on to receive his liberal arts degree from the University of Notre Dame in 1960. Bob enjoyed a 35 year career with the Chicago Tribune. He spent ten of those years in the New York sales office and the last 8 years as advertising manager of the Sunday Travel Section. He was a recipient of the prestigious Chesser M. Campbell award in 1971. Visitation was held from 5 to 8 p.m. Thursday, June 14 at Wenban Funeral Home, 320 E. Vine Ave. Lake Forest. Funeral Mass were offered at the Church of St. Mary, 11:30 a.m. Friday, June 15, 175 E. Illinois Rd., Lake Forest. Memorial Contributions may be made to the Church of St. Mary or the Veterans of Foreign Wars.
