Kathryn Lorraine (Brink) Kline was born July 13, 1923, the oldest daughter of George C. and Golda Mae (Birkhofer) Brink in Dow City, Iowa. She died February 4, 2007 at the Eventide Lutheran Home in Denison, Iowa at the age of eighty-three years.

Kathryn was born near Dow City, Iowa and attended school there, graduating from the Dow City High School in 1941. On August 16, 1948 she was united in marriage to Raymond Kline in Hiawatha, Kansas and was blessed with the birth of seven children. They lived mostly in Crawford County where Ray worked on area farms.

Kathryn kept her days busy caring for her children, her grandchildren, children she babysat for, and her garden. She enjoyed working crossword puzzles and playing Scrabble when time allowed. She was an active member of the Bible Baptist Church in Dunlap, Iowa for many years, teaching Sunday School and Bible School. In later years she became a member of the Pioneer Baptist Church and continued to teach Sunday School until her health prohibited, and encouraged others with cards and letters.

Kathryn was preceded in death by her parents, George C. and Golda Mae Brink, her husband, Raymond, two sisters, Lila Christensen and Joyce Meggers and one brother, George Jr. Brink. Survivors include four sons, Jerry and wife, Judy of rural Defiance; David and wife, Yvonne of Berryville, Arkansas; John of Dow City; and James and wife, Jenny of Elkhart, Indiana; three daughters, C. Lorraine Ewart and husband, Charles of Elkhart, Indiana; Joy Schneider and husband, Daryl of Denison; and Marilyn Rohlf and husband, Roger of Ames, Iowa; nineteen grandchildren and two great-grandchildren; three brothers, John Brink and wife, Ruth of Dow City; Bill Brink and wife, Ellen of Dow City; Robert Brink and wife, Chris of Dow City; two sisters, Gwen DeMey of Dow City and Donna Beerman of Bennington, Nebraska; sister-in-law, Mary Ellen Segebart and husband, Raymond of Dow City; brother-in-law, Leonard Meggers of Dow City; nieces, nephews, and other relatives and friends.

Funeral services were held at 10 A.M., Thursday, February 8, 2007 at the Pioneer Baptist Church in Denison, Iowa. Officiating the service was Pastor Don Slatton, Pastor David Kline and Pastor John Click. Jenny Kline served as pianist with soloist, Katie Schneider singing "Amazing Grace", with the family singing a special selection and the congregation singing "In the Garden" and "There's a Land That is Fairer Than Day". Kathryn's son, Jim gave a tribute to her. Honorary pallbearers were: Andrew Rohlf, Shawn Kline, Joshua Kline, Kevin Kline and Kody Kline. Those serving as pallbearers were: Stephen Schneider, Jonathan Rohlf, Michael Kline, Matthew Rohlf, Daniel Kline and Ryan Ewart. The family invited everyone in attendance at the service to join them in fellowship and lunch at the church, catered by Hy-Vee. The Huebner Funeral Home in Denison was in charge of arrangements.
