LaRue Ann Hansen was born on January 20, 1931 the daughter of Melvin and Eldora Hinz Hagge. She died Sunday, December 10, 2006 at the Creighton University Medical Center in Omaha, Nebraska at the age of seventy-five.

LaRue was born in Manning, Iowa and was baptized in Christ, October 4, 1931 at the Zion Lutheran Church in Manning. She received her education at the Gray Community School, graduating with the class of 1949. As a child she lived at the Five Mile House, where she enjoyed dancing.

On June 4, 1950 LaRue was united in marriage to Fred Hansen at the Presbyterian Church in Manning. The couple made their home on a farm near Gray and lived in various places before moving to Denison in 1959. She worked at the Crawford County Memorial Hospital in Denison as a office clerk for twenty-five years.

LaRue was a devoted daughter caring for her parents. She enjoyed watching the Lawrence Welk Show, especially the Polka dancing, playing cards, Bingo and visiting on the phone with her family and friends, never wanting to miss anything. She enjoyed going on bank trips, spending time at the cabin in Lake View, fishing in Minnesota, visiting relatives in Colorado and helping at Uncle LeRoy's Pumpkin Patch. She loved shopping and Christmas was her favorite time of the year. LaRue did volunteer work for the Red Cross Bloodmobile and was a member of the United Presbyterian Church in Denison and the Crawford County Memorial Hospital Auxiliary.

She was preceded in death by her parents. Survivors include her husband, Fred of Denison; two daughters, Cheryl Campbell and her husband, Warren of Sac City; Lisa Struchen and her husband, Chuck of Early; four grandchildren, Tim Campbell and Adrienne Brito of Denver, Colorado, Todd Campbell of Sac City, Ashley Struchen and Austin Struchen, both of Early; brother-in- law Bob Hansen of Manning, sister-in-law Alice Hansen of Carroll, many nieces, nephews, cousins, relatives, and friends.

Funeral services were held for LaRue on Thursday, December 14, 2006 at 10:30 a.m. at the United Presbyterian Church in Denison. Reverend Brian Rihner officiated the service and grave side rites. Ann Voggesser was the organist for the congregational hymns, "To God Be the Glory" and "Here I Am Lord." Jeff Hansen sang the solo selection, "Because He Lives" and was accompanied by Kay Hansen. Honorary pallbearers were Ashley Struchen and Austin Struchen. Pallbearers were Tim Campbell, Greg Hansen, LeRoy Childress, Todd Campbell, Tracey Hansen, and Kurt Martens. The family invited everyone to attend lunch served by the Presbyterian Women and catered by Staley's before burial which was at the Manning Municipal Cemetery in Manning. The Huebner Funeral Home in Denison was in charge of arrangements.
