Danny Lloyd Weeda was born at Waterloo, Iowa on October 5, 1954, the son of Lloyd H. and Mary Lou Foltz Weeda.

The family resided at Traer, Iowa, for one year before moving to the farm south of Tingley, Iowa, where he was raised.

He received his early education at Tingley before being graduated from the Mount Ayr High School with the class of 1972.

Following high school he attended Iowa State University in Ames, Iowa, for one year where he met his future wife, Coletta Todd.

Danny and Coletta were united in marriage June 16, 1974, at Grace United Methodist Church in Correctionville, Iowa.

Their union was blessed with three children, Dana, Sterling and Cinnamon.

They made their home on the farm south of Tingley, Iowa, where Dan farmed and was a cattle producer.

In 1993 they moved to the farm home where Dan was raised where they resided for one year and, in conjunction with farming, they operated the Tingley Café for nine months.

In addition to his farming and cattle producing career at Tingley, Dan was a member of the Tingley United Methodist Church, Tingley Lion's Club, Tingley Halloween Fun Night, Tingley Slow Pitch Softball Team, a Leader of the Tingley Toppers 4-H Club, of which he was a member in his youth, Advisor of the Iowa Junior's Shorthorn Association, served on the Board of Directors of the Iowa Shorthorn Association and was a member of the Ringgold County Fair Board.

In 1994 they moved to their present farm home northwest of Denison, Iowa, where he had since resided.

While residing at Denison, Danny was employed for area farmers, Denison Livestock Auction, Denison Newspapers, Hy-Vee and, for the Arcadia Co-op at their Schleswig, Iowa, location where he was injured in April of 2001, forcing him to retire.

During his years at Denison he was a member of the First United Methodist Church and enjoyed chaperoning Crawford County 4-H members at the Iowa 4-H Conference.

In his spare time Dan loved to attend fairs, especially the Iowa State Fair, grooming and fitting Shorthorn cattle for shows and fairs, playing softball, telling stories and, most recently, he loved spending time with his three grandchildren.

Danny died Wednesday afternoon, November 22, 2006, at the Odebolt Nursing and Rehab Center in Odebolt, Iowa.

At the time of his death he had been blessed with 52 years, 1 month and 17 days.

Danny was preceded in death by his parents, Lloyd H. and Mary Lou Weeda, paternal grandparents, Clarence and Thelma Weeda and maternal grandparents, Harold and Louise Foltz.

Those remaining to cherish his memory include his wife, Coletta Weeda of Denison, Iowa, three children Dana Weeda and husband, Josh Anderson of Glidden, Iowa, Sterling Weeda and wife, Julie of Boone, Iowa, and Cinnamon and husband, Kyle WuIf of Kiron, Iowa; three grandchildren, Hannah and Dillon Weeda of Boone, Iowa, and Kolby WuIf of Kiron, Iowa; one sister, Karen Pettinger of Tingley, Iowa; one niece, Oakel and husband, Jordan Kralik of Orient, Iowa; his father-in-law and mother-in-law, Leonard and Phyllis Todd of Correctionville, Iowa and a host of other relatives and friends.

Funeral services were held at 2:00 p.m., Monday, November 27, 2006, at the Tingley United Methodist Church in Tingley, Iowa, with the Rev. Ken M. Ferguson officiating.

Music for the service included the congregation singing, "Amazing Grace" and "How Great Thou Art" with Susie Moffitt serving as pianist.

Additional music included recorded selections of "Wind Beneath My Wings" by Bette Midler, "Remember When" by Alan Jackson and "Hallelujah" by Mannheim Steamroller.

Honorary Pallbearers included Gary Leonard, Curt Lininger, Bob Johnson, Ronnie Shields, Rod Adams, Wayne McKee and Jerry McAlexander.

Pallbearers were Sterling Weeda, Josh Anderson, Kyle WuIf, Dean Argotsinger, Steve Garland and Michael Ashby.

Interment was at the Tingley Cemetery in Tingley, Iowa.

Following the interment the family invited all in attendance to join them at the Tingley Community Building for a time of fellowship and a luncheon prepared and served by the Tingley United Methodist Women.

The Pfannebecker Funeral Home in Denison, Iowa was in charge of arrangements with assistance provided by the Wilson-Watson-Armstrong Funeral Home in Mount Ayr.
