David Lee Beatty

David Lee Beatty was born June 9, 1966, at La Grange, Illinois, the son of Richard and Lillian Ray Beatty. During his early years the family resided in the Iowa communities of Estherville, Ottumwa and Sioux City, and St. Louis, Missouri.

In 1978 they moved to Denison, Iowa where David was graduated from high school with the class of 1984.

Following high school he attended Morningside College in Sioux City for one year before returning to Denison and being employed at Schleswig Specialty Meats for his father.

On September 17, 1988, David was united in marriage with Kristine Thies at the First United Methodist Church in Denison.

Their union was blessed with three daughters, Brittani, Stephani and Tiffani. They made their home in Denison until moving to Ames where David continued his education receiving his Bachelor of Science Degree in Production Management in 1995 and receiving his MBA in 1999.

While residing in Ames David began his employment with 3-M, transferring to their St. Paul, Minnesota, office in 2004 where he was currently Channel Manager in the Distribution/Marketing Department of 3-Ms Automotive After Market Division. After moving to Minnesota, the family resided in Woodbury.

In his early years, David enjoyed his involvement in the Boy Scouts which planted the seed for his love of nature and astronomy.

Other hobbies and interests he enjoyed include boating, motorcycles, going dirt biking and the annual fishing trips to Canada with his father.

His greatest enjoyment in life was spending time with his daughters.

He was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Denison.

David died at his home in Woodbury, Minnesota, Friday, October 6, 2006, at the age of 40 years, 3 months and 27 days.

Those remaining to cherish his memory include his wife, Kristine, and daughters, Brittani, Stephani and Tiffani Beatty all of Woodbury, Minnesota; his parents, Richard and Lillian Beatty of Denison, Iowa; two sisters and their spouses, Kathryn and Lyle Jensen of Prole, Iowa and Jennifer and Andrew Curry of Sioux City, Iowa and a host of other relatives and friends.

Funeral services were held at 11:00 a.m., Wednesday, October 11, 2006, at the First United Methodist Church in Denison, Iowa, with the Rev. Alberta Ervin officiating. Music for the service included the congregation singing, How Great Thou Art and two piano solos, On Eagles Wings and Wind Beneath My Wings, with Mr. Doug Rohde serving as pianist.

Pallbearers included Jason Curry, Spencer Curry, Phil Smith, Scott Meyer, Trent Blinkman and Chris Meleshko. Interment was at Crawford Heights Memory Gardens in Denison, Iowa.

Following the service, the family invited everyone to return to the church and join them for fellowship and a luncheon prepared and served by the United Methodist Women.

A memorial has been established to the Iowa State Alumni Association.

The Pfannebecker Funeral Home in Denison, Iowa, was in charge of arrangements.
