Susan "Sue" Kay Brewer died at the University of Kansas Medical Center on Thursday, Aug. 31, 2006, from injuries sustained in a bicycle accident.

She was born to Clayton and Sally Brewer on October 6, 1960, in Denison, Iowa, the third of six siblings.

She was a Montessori teacher for 23 years at the Liberty Montessori Center.

Although baptized Lutheran, which was her mother's faith, she chose to convert to the Baptist faith as a teenager.

She moved to Liberty to study at William Jewell College and quickly found a spiritual family in the congregation of Pleasant Valley Baptist Church.

She dedicated her to leading others to Christ by teaching Sunday school, volunteering as a trainer for One To One Discipleship and mentoring children through the Kids Connection Ministry.

She spent many of her vacations acting as a counselor at Christian Youth Camps or traveling in this country and abroad on missions teaching children at vacation Bible schools, rebuilding churches and ministering to others.

Her parents preceded her in death.

She is survived by her siblings, Steven Brewer of Jemez Springs, New Mexico; Debra Brewer of Liberty; Pamela Brewer of Liberty; Linda Babcock and husband John of Liberty; and Michael Brewer of Kansas City; nephews and niece Jason Babcock of Jemez Springs, New Mexico; and Eric and Marcella Babcock of Liberty; and her mother's extended family in Iowa, Kansas, Michigan and Nebraska.
