Joan Edith Langer, 65, of Jefferson, South Dakota, died unexpectedly Saturday, Sept. 9, 2006, at a Sioux City hospital after a short illness. Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Meyer Brothers Colonial Chapel in Sioux City. Visitation at the funeral home from 4-8 p.m. Tuesday, with the family present from 6-8 p.m. Graveside services will immediately follow at Oakland Cemetery in Denison. Memorials may be directed to the Gospel Mission in Sioux City.

Survivors include her husband, John Langer of Jefferson; her mother, Nellie Bathurst of Sioux City; one brother, James Bathurst of Brownsville, Texas; and one sister, Connie Butler of Smithville, Missouri.
