Jochim Frederick Lahndorf
Jochim was born in 1819 in Schleswig-Holstein, Germany and married Catharine Marie Brehmer (or Bramer), born in 1817.
In Germany they lived in Gieselrad and had three children there, Frederick J., John and Amelia.
In 1966 they departed from Hamburg on the ship HERSCHEL to come to America. They arrived in New York City. His name on the manifest appears as J.F. Lohndorf. His occupation is listed as Landsman (farmer).
The family settled in Davenport, Iowa. In later records his name is shown as Fred J. Lahndorf, but his son Fred J. is called Fred Sr. After four years I that city, they farmed for four years in Scott County, Iowa and in 1874 came to Crawford County, establishing their home in Hayes Township.
Under Jochim's careful supervision became a highly improved and valuable property and there he and his wife spent their remaining days.
Jochim passed away in 1891 and Catherine in 1895
