RICKETT IOWA

Our citizens were awakened Wednesday night by the ringing of the fire bell and found Mr. Vollerson’s barn a mass of flames. With a strong wind blowing the fire had made such headway before it was discovered that it was impossible to save the buildings. The barn and buggy shed were completely destroyed, also some hay and corn and the two best horses perished in the flames, one being a fine young colt that had just been broke. They have no positive proof as to the origin of the fire, but it is supposed to be incendiarism. Mr. Vollerson was at Denison at the time, and the opportunity was taken while he was away to gratify a fiendish desire for revenge.
