Richard, You'll probably have to request Grant's birth cert. from the Ia, Dept. of Health, but be aware you're working with 2 different birth dates which might affect which microfilm reel the record would be on. The Calif. death death index lists his b/d as 28 May 1916 and the ssdi lists it as 29 May, 1920. Bernice & Grant HERBSTREITH appear on the 1920 census in Maquoketa in Jackson co.living with her parents William & Clara Grant. That household was enumerated in Jan. & young Grant was indicated as 4 ?/12. The father George M. Herbstreith/Herbstruth was in Montana on the 1920. Ellwood Ia. in Brookfield twp. in Clinton co. is where the Herbstruth family hung their hats and is a few miles south of Maquoketa. Dick
