WYOMING, Iowa — Verna A. Mais, 86, of Wyoming, died Wednesday at the Jones Regional Medical Center, Anamosa.
Memorial services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at the Lahey Funeral Home, Wyoming, with the Rev. Timothy Miller officiating. Visitation will be from 9 a.m. until the service time Saturday at Lahey Funeral Home, Wyoming. The body will be cremated.
She was born April 14, 1919, in Wyoming to Austin Theodore and Emma Hershberger Allen. She married Rowland E. Mais on Nov. 21, 1942. He died in 1992.
She graduated from Wyoming High School in 1937. She attended Iowa State Teacher’s College in Cedar Falls and graduated from Scoville Business College, Clinton.
She was employed with Swift & Co., Chicago; Grumman Aircraft Corp., Long Island, N.Y.; and Pax River Naval Air Station.
Survivors include three sons, Rowland (Susan) Mais of Anamosa, Sid (Patty) Mais of Bainbridge Island, Wash., and Lenny (Jane) Mais of Coggon; four grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; one brother, Stanley Allen of Olin; one sister-in-law, Letha Allen of Chapin; and many nieces and nephews.
Memorials may be given to Jones Regional Medical Center, Anamosa.
