Funeral services for Irene Charlotte St. John, 92, Davenport and formerly of Calamus, will be held at 10:30 a.m. Thursday, Jan. 16, 1997 at Immanuel Lutheran church in Grand Mound, with burial in the Rose Hill cemetery, Calamus.

Visitation will be held from 2 to 6 p.m. today, Wednesday, Jan. 15 at Schultz Funeral Home in Grand Mound.

Mrs. St. John died Jan. 13 at Genesis East Medical Center in Davenport. She had been a resident of the assisted living apartments at the Davenport Lutheran Home.

The daughter of Louis and Dorothea Ernsting Licht, she was born March 22, 1904 in Lowden. She married Ray St. John Aug. 29, 1940 in Lowden. He died Feb. 5, 1984.

Before retiring she taught in rural schools in Cedar county; Wisconsin Rapids, Wis.; and Calamus; and she was the Calamus city treasurer for 20 years.

Mrs. St. John was a former member of Immanuel Lutheran church in Grand Mound and its Ladies Aid. She was also a Sunday school teacher. She was a member of the Shakespearean Club and the Calamus American Legion Auxiliary. She was a member of Trinity Lutheran church in Davenport.

She is survived by a son, James St. John, Girard, Ill.; and a sister, Alma Licht, Davenport. She was preceded in death by her husband; 4 sisters and 2 brothers.

Memorials may be made to the Bethesda Lutheran Home or Immanuel Lutheran church in Grand Mound.
