Funeral services for Elsie I. Schepers, 100, Lost Nation, were held May 24, 1996 at the United Methodist church, Elwood with the Rev. Lorraine Roth officiating. Burial was in the Elwood cemetery, Elwood. Pallbearers were John Rickels, Ronald Adrian, Earl Galloway, Lynn Smith, S. L. Schoenthaler and Duane Rutenbeck.

Mrs. Schepers died May 21, 1996 at the West Wing Place, DeWitt, after a brief illness.

She was born April 30, 1896 near Lost Nation, to William and Wilhelmina Wirth Ruggeberg. She attended country school. She married Arthur Schepers March 15, 1922 at Maquoketa. They farmed near Lost Nation. Mr. Schepers died May 1958. Mrs. Schepers moved into Lost Nation in August 1959 and then to West Wing place in November 1992.

She was a member of the United Methodist church and the United Methodist Women, Elwood. She enjoyed quilting, card playing and was a member of the Guys and Dolls.

She is survived by two daughters, Meryl Hoffmann, Donohue and Donna Schepers, Lost Nation, 8 grandchildren, 5 great-grandchildren, one sister-in-law, Gladys Ibsen, DeWitt and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband, 4 sisters and 3 brothers.
