Clarence L. Williams

MAQUOKETA — Clarence L. Williams, 88, of Maquoketa, died Friday at his home.

Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Maquoketa, with the Rev. James Chappell officiating. Burial will be in the Sacred Heart Cemetery with military honors accorded by Timber City American Legion Post 75 and O’Connor-Regenwether VFW Post 3633 of Maquoketa and the Andrew AMVETS. Visitation will be from 3 to 7 p.m. today at the Lahey Funeral Home, Maquoketa, where a vigil service will be at 6 p.m.

He was born July 31, 1917, in Plankinton, S.D., to Albert and Leila Morehead Williams. He married Mildred Huenefeld on Dec. 5, 1942, in Junction City, Kan.

He was a staff sergeant in the U.S. Army during World War II.

He was a store manager with the Sieg Co., Dubuque, for 48 years.

He was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church and Timber City American Legion Post 75, Maquoketa.

Survivors include his wife; two sons, Larry (Wondella) Williams of Cedar Rapids and Richard (Sue) Williams of Maquoketa; four grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; one sister, Dorothy Stamp of DeWitt; and two brothers, John (Fern) Williams of DeWitt and Gerald (Dorothy) Williams of Keezaltown, Va.
