Funeral services for Elmer H. Ericksen, 81, DeWitt, were held July 16, 1993 at St. Paul's United Church of Christ, with the Rev. Harold Koenig officiating. Barbara Wiebel was the organist and pallbearers were Robert Hythecker, Joe VanDierendock, Edward Petersen, James E. Fox, Keylon Borchers and Robert Cottrell. Honorary bearers were Virgil Schnede, Ardell Knoche and Roger Riedesel. Burial was in the Massillon cemetery.
Mr. Erickson died July 13 at the DeWitt Community hospital.
The son of Carl and Emma Knutsen Ericksen, he was born March 23, 1912 in Clinton county. He married Alice Leabo Dec. 22, 1937 in Kahoka, Mo. She died in 1987.
Mr. Ericksen operated Ericksen Corner restaurant in Wheatland for many years and he also worked for the DeWitt park board. He resided in DeWitt for 17 years.
He is survived by 2 daughters, Karen (Mrs. Robert) Schneider and Lana (Mrs. Arthur) Barclay, both of Wheatland; 6 grandchildren; a step-granddaughter; 4 step-great-grandchildren; 3 sisters, Edna Keiner and Malinda Talkington, DeWitt; and Mildred Cox, Camanche; 3 brothers, Herman of California and Vernon and Lester, DeWitt. He was preceded in death by his wife and a brother.
