Funeral services for August C. Nyberg, 75, Toronto, will be held at 10:30 a.m. Thursday, July 22, 1993 at the Toronto Community church, with the Rev. David Cave officiating. Opal Glover is the organist and Anita DeWulf will sing. Pallbearers are Wilbur Bentrott, Travis Horner, Dean Horner, Ron Steines, Harvey LaFrenz and Raymond Hintz. Burial will be in the Rose Lawn Memorial Estate cemetery in Moline, Ill.
Visitation will be held from 3 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, July 21 at Chapman's in Wheatland, where Masonic services will be held at 7:30.
Mr. Nyberg died July 17 at Mercy hospital in Davenport, following a long illness.
The son of August Iver and Louise Gehrls Nyberg, he was born Sept. 26, 1917 in Aledo, Ill. He served in the Army Air Corps in World War II and was a graduate of the Amarillo, Texas Aircraft Tech school.
Mr. Nyberg married Malinda Schlemmer Jan. 3, 1942 in Missouri. She died April 8, 1986. He married Bertha Milota Aug. 15, 1987 in Lowden.
He had employed at McLaughlin Body Shop in Moline, Ill. and had lived in Toronto since 1960.
Mr. Nyberg was a member of the Harbor Masonic Lodge, Lost Nation; the Wheatland American Legion; the Toronto Community church and he was a former mayor of Toronto.
He is survived by his wife, Bertha; a daughter, Linda Nyberg, San Rafael, Calif.; 2 sons, James, Kyle, Texas and Thomas, LaCrosse, Wis.; a stepson, Thomas Green, Everett, Wash.; a step-daughter, Christine Clausen, Mill Valley, Calif.; 3 grandchildren; 3 sisters, Lillian Towne, Joliet, Ill.; Yarda McGregor, Orangevail, Calif.; and Dorothy Horner, Toronto, and a brother, Walter, Citrus Heights, Calif. He was preceded in death by his first wife.
