George H. Meegan

ALBANY, Ill. - George H. Meegan, 78, of Albany, died Thursday at his home.

Cremation rites were accorded. There will be no visitation. A memorial service will be scheduled at a later date. The Fulton, Ill., Chapel of the Bosma Renkes Funeral Home is handling arrangements.

He was born April 23, 1927, in Cambridge, Mass., to Kenneth M. and Madeline L. Wallace Meegan. He married Jean A. Byers on Dec. 1, 1951, in Boston.

He graduated high school in the Boston area.

He was a World War II veteran of the U.S. Navy.

He worked in the maintenance department for the Barrington (Ill.) School District. He also worked for the city of Crystal Lake, Ill., as foreman for the water and sewer department until retiring in 1988.

He served as an Albany village trustee.

Survivors include his wife, Jean; one daughter, Pegi (Jerry) Cahill of Plano, Texas; three sons, Paul (Pegi) Meegan of South Barrington, Ill., Dan (Kelly) Meegan of Antioch, Ill., and Kevin (Cynthia) Meegan of Clinton, Ill.; seven grandchildren; one great-grandchild; one brother, Edwin Hearson of West Palm Beach, Fla., and one sister, Mrs. Marjorie Astrofski of Quincy, Mass.
