Last rites for John C. Werner, 84, were held at the Chapman Funeral Home, Wheatland, Jan. 9, 1993 with the Rev. Brian Werner officiating. Burial was in BIg Rock cemetery. Pallbearers were Loren Knoche, Robert Cottrell, Lloyd Hamdorf, James Rorick, George Russ and Wayne Schroeder.

Mr. Werner died at Mercy hospital, Davenport, Jan. 7.

The son of Christopher and May Hass Werner, he was born at Aurora Nov. 2, 1908. He married Rachel Miller at Aurora Jan. 13, 1932. She died Oct. 11, 1992. Mr. Werner was a retired electrician.

He is survived by 6 sons, Donald, DeWitt; Thomas and Larry, Wheatland; Robert, Blue Grass; Edwin, Davenport and Randy, Clinton; 3 daughters, Jeanette Jones, Hutchinson, Kan.; Patricia Wynn, Vero Beach, Fla. and Linda Bedford, Dixon, Ill.; 23 grandchildren; 26 great-grandchildren; 2 great-great-grandchildren; 2 brothers, Donald, Aurora and Edwin, Independence and 2 sisters, Alice Kelley and Della Black, Independence. He was preceded in death by his wife, a son and a sister.
