Funeral services for Melvin C. Dickel, 85, retired Wheatland area farmer, were held at St. Paul's United Church of Christ, Wheatland, Oct. 16, 1992 with the Rev. Harold Koenig officiating. Burial was in St. Paul's cemetery. Organist was Barbara Wiebel and Pastor Tim and Rose Carlson were vocalists.

Mr. Dickel died at Ridgecrest Health Center, Davenport, Oct. 12.

The son of Charles and Clara Beckman Dickel, he was born in Clinton county April 12, 1907 and graduated from Wheatland high school. He married Hilda Hass at Calamus Feb. 22, 1933. He farmed in the Wheatland area before he retired.

He was a member of St. Paul's church. He was a member of Farm Bureau, a director of Farm Service and a township trustee in Clinton county. He was also a field assessor and served as a director of the Farmers and Businessmen Telephone Co. and the St. Paul Cemetery board.

He is survived by his wife; 3 daughters, Joyce (Mrs. Roger) Vrooman, Santa Monica, Calif.; Janice (Mrs. Larry) Behne, Wheatland and Joan (Mrs. James) Hannah, Duncansville, Arla.; 2 sons, Merle, Arizona and Karl, Wheatland; a sister, Elsie Burrichter, Wheatland; 15 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a daughter, a grandson and a granddaughter.
