Donald Murray, 88 10/21/1998 CLINTON, Iowa -- Donald Murray, formerly of 1005 1/2 4th St., Fulton, Ill., died Monday, Oct. 19, at Samaritan Hospital North, Clinton. The service will begin 10 a.m. Thursday with a prayer service at Cannon Funeral Home, Clinton, then proceed to Immaculate Conception Church, Fulton, Ill. Burial will be in Calvary Hill Cemetery, Fulton. Visitation is 3-8 p.m. today at the funeral home, with a parish Scripture service at 5 p.m. Mr. Murray went into the newspaper business with the Jonesboro Daily, where he worked 10 years. Later on, he bought the Jonesboro Sun newspaper. He sold that and came to Fulton in 1945, when he purchased the Fulton Journal, its property and all its equipment. He sold it to Henry Kramer in 1971 but stayed on until 1997. He then became a resident of Alverno Nursing Home, Clinton. He was born Sept. 29, 1910, in Jonesboro, Ark. He married Winne Webb in 1942 in St. Louis. She died in 1991. A memorial fund has been established. Survivors include a son, Michael J., a professor at Western Illinois University, Macomb; and a sister, Gertrude Schroeder, Mobile, Ala.
