Michael Hengl 09/22/1998 DeWITT, Iowa -- Services for Michael Edward Hengl, of DeWitt, will be 11:30 a.m. Thursday at Runge Mortuary and Crematory, Davenport. Burial will be in Pine Hill Cemetery, Davenport. Visitation is 5-8 p.m. Wednesday at the mortuary. Mr. Hengl died Sunday, Sept. 20, 1998, at DeWitt Community Hospital. He was employed at United Auto Workers Union 215 as benefit representative at Caterpillar Inc. He served as chairperson for Scott County, lobbying in the House of Representatives for Iowa workmen's compensation and unemployment compensation. Later, he transferred to the International United Auto Workers in Detroit, where he was an international representative working in the CAP program and later in the strike insurance program. He retired in 1997. He was born May 3, 1939, in Davenport, to Michael and Greta (Harlow) Hengl. He married Thelma Crane in 1957 in Davenport. She preceded him in death. He married Barb Barber in 1987 in Davenport. Memorials may be made to the family. Survivors include his wife; children and their spouses, Michael and Kim Hengl, Dennis Hengl, Scott Hengl, Chuck and Melissa Hengl, Donald Hengl, Debbie Hengl, Beth Hengl-Tinlin and Douglas Tinlin; stepdaughters, Debbie Jasper and Brenda Barger; grandchildren, Sarah, Trisha, Cole, Caitlin, Cheyana, Jacob, Zachary and Nevada Hengl and Nathaniel Tinlin; sisters, Roedean Glaspell and Barb McCoy; and a brother, Dick Hengl. He was preceded in death by a sister, Mickey Harms.
