The Clinton Herald Wednesday February 5, 1902 p. 8 The Clinton friends of Miss Gardiner Eastman were saddened this morning with the inteligence of her death, which was conveyed in a message from Philadelphia, where Miss Eastman passed away Tuesday night. While it was known in this city that she had been ill, the news of her death comes as a shock to her hundreds of friends in Clinton. Her parents, Mr. and Mrs. L.C. Eastman, were at her bedside at the time of her death. Her sister, Mrs. Wallace Rogers, returned ot Laurel, Mississippi, on the preceding day, her condition not being thought serious, she having shown considerable improvement at that time. Miss Eastman was one of Clinton's best known and most popular young ladies, having spent her life and grown to young womanhood here. All will extend sincere sympathy to the afflicted family. The remains will be brought to Clinton for interment. Details were not recieved today concerning the funeral arrangements. The Clinton Herald Thursday February 6, 1902 p. 8 It is announced that the remains of the late Miss Gardiner Eastman, whose death at Philadelphia was announced in the Herald Wednesday evening, will reach this city on the Colorado special, Friday afternoon, arriving at 1:20 o'clock.
