Leonard L. Peters
CLINTON — Leonard L. Peters, 92, of Clinton, died Friday at Mercy North Hospital, Clinton.
Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Monday at St. John Lutheran Church with the Rev. Wayne Brinkmann officiating. Burial will be in Oakland Cemetery. Visitation will be from 2 to 6 p.m. Sunday at Pape Funeral Home, Clinton, and at 10 a.m. Monday at the church.
Pallbearers will be Laurie Anderson, JoEllen Ketelsen, Jennifer Jungers, Kristin Lueders, Nicole Vogt, Mike Nation, Erica Peters, Kyle Peters, Mert Schepler, Jack Tietjens and Bryce Petersen.
He was born April 14, 1913, on the family farm near Almont to Herman and Mary Rogis Peters.
He married Vernetta Schepler on Jan. 15, 1936, at the St. John Parsonage.
He and his wife farmed in Andover until retiring in 1975.
He was a member of St. John Lutheran Church where he served on the Board of Elders from 1986 to 1992. He also was a member of the Over 50 Club at St. John and the Clinton County Farm Bureau.
Survivors include his wife; two daughters, Lavonne (Allen) Petersen of Goose Lake and Eileen (Lee) Nation of Spirit Lake; a son, Don (Pennie) Peters of rural Clinton; eight grandchildren, and 11 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, five sisters and six brothers.
